About Mercator
Mercator Medical is a Polish company established in 1996 in Kraków that specializes in manufacturing disposable personal protective equipment for medical purposes. The Mercator Medical Group is a manufacturer of medical gloves and a distributor of single-use medical materials that sells to over 70 countries worldwide. For over 25 years of operation, the company has established the MERCATOR brand, which is highly recognizable and well-trusted in the medical industry.
Mercator Medical is the first Polish company to make an industrial investment in Thailand and holds 1% of global medical gloves sales, delivering medical products to 45 countries worldwide. The company made its debut on the Main List of the Warsaw Stock Exchange in November 2013.
What Types of Gloves Does Mercator Offer?
Mercator manufactures medical gloves including surgical, diagnostic, sterile and protective gloves, as well as household gloves. The company produces high-quality disposable nitrile and natural rubber latex diagnostic and protective gloves suitable for medical, industrial, food and automotive sectors, including gloves for procedures with increased risk of infection.
Medical and Protective Gloves
Medical gloves are a basic medical device that serves as personal protective equipment commonly used in healthcare centers and plays a key role in infection control procedures. Mercator's range includes:
- Latex Gloves: Made from rubber extracted from the Hevea brasiliensis tree, with 90% of latex currently produced in Asia
- Nitrile Gloves: Made from acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), these gloves are an ideal alternative to natural material gloves as they do not contain latex proteins and have minimal content of vulcanization accelerators
- Vinyl Gloves: Made from PVC material, these gloves are skin-friendly for users prone to hypersensitivity type I and IV
- Neoprene Gloves: Made from synthetic rubber, these provide tactile sensitivity similar to latex with the resistance and strength of nitrile, and are recommended for procedures requiring particularly high security levels
- Polyisoprene Gloves: These provide excellent quality without latex proteins, offering high flexibility, durability, tactile sensitivity, and hand fit
Specialized Product Lines
Mercator's own brands include Comfort, Santex, and Proster medical gloves, which began manufacturing and distribution in 1997. The product line includes Comfort PF and DermaGel powder-free examination gloves with low latex content, and Vinylex vinyl medical examination gloves.
What Quality Standards Does Mercator Maintain?
The company holds ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003 certificates, which were extended in 2011 to include manufacturing of medical examining gloves and dressings, purchasing, storing, packaging and customizing, as well as domestic sales and export of medical products and personal protective equipment. Mercator maintains a broad portfolio of examination and specialty gloves classified as Class III Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Mercator Medical (Thailand) meets ISO management system requirements and undergoes various audits to optimize production processes on an ongoing basis. The company has multiple stages of control from choosing raw material suppliers to final control of finished products, selecting only reliable and authentic raw material suppliers.
Where Are Mercator's Products Available?
Mercator gloves and medical supplies are available through various channels including on Droppe.com, where customers can access the company's comprehensive range of protective gloves and medical equipment. The Group is one of the most important players on the international scene, selling products to approximately 70 countries worldwide and distributing them throughout Europe.
The company has a network of commercial partners in more than 40 countries and supplies products primarily for healthcare units, industrial plants, and pharmaceutical wholesalers. Mercator Medical has organized distribution in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Germany, Ukraine and Hungary, with sales carried out directly by local sales representatives.
What Makes Mercator's Manufacturing Unique?
The manufacturing part of the company is located in Thailand, as this location offers access to natural rubber (latex), an important raw material. The objective behind purchasing a production plant in Thailand was to ensure secure supply of the key raw material required for manufacturing latex gloves.
Mercator currently has three production facilities in Thailand located in Songkhla province, southern Thailand, with short distance to Songkhla and Penang ports for efficient distribution. The company has invested in infrastructure to produce high-quality specialty gloves, including a modern biomass boiler house, water recirculation system, and a 4.7MW solar farm, enabling production of more than 1 billion specialty gloves per year with most energy coming from zero-emission sources.
