• EN 388:2003

  EN 388:2003 is a European standard for protective gloves against mechanical risks. It sets requirements for resistance to cuts, tears, punctures, abrasion, and impact. Gloves are tested in labs for these properties and the results are shown as a performance level for each test. The levels are marked on the gloves. This standard also includes requirements for gloves' dexterity, comfort and size.

  Cut Resistance, Coup Test Level 5

  The standard EN 388:2003 specifies requirements and test methods for the performance of protective gloves in terms of physical and mechanical aggressions, specifically looking at abrasion, blade cut, tear, and puncture resistance. A result of Level 5 in the Cut Resistance, Coup Test under this standard indicates the gloves withstand 20 cycles of cuts when tested using the coup test method. This test involves rotating a circular blade under a fixed load on the material until it cuts through. The number of cycles required to cut through the sample at a constant speed is measured. The textile products are inspected and certified by Oeko-Tex, they can use the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label on their packaging to show that they are free from harmful chemicals. This certification is for all types of textiles, from raw materials to finished products, and it is globally recognized.
