• EN 812:1997

  EN 812:1997 is a European standard that sets out the requirements for industrial helmets, which are also known as bump caps. These are protective head gear worn in low-impact, high-frequency areas to protect the head from minor bumps, scrapes and bruises. The standard covers the performance requirements for safety, impact resistance and penetration resistance. To meet this standard, industrial helmet must be able to protect the head from minor impact and penetration. Possible test results include measurements of the helmet's impact resistance and penetration resistance, as well as an evaluation of its ability to resist wear and tear. The standard also includes requirements for the proper use, maintenance, marking and identification of industrial helmets.

• PPE Category 3

  PPE stands for "personal protective equipment." PPE Category 3 refers to equipment that is complex and provide the highest level of protection such as powered respirators, SCBA, and full body suits. In Europe, PPE Category 3 must meet certain safety standards set by the European Union, which means that it must be designed and manufactured to protect the user without causing harm. Companies that make or sell PPE must prove that it meets these standards. They also must have a quality management system in place, have to be audited regularly by a notified body and have to have a technical documentation.
