EN 379:2003+A1:2009 is a European standard that defines the performance requirements and test methods for arc welding protective equipment. It specifies the minimum requirements for the design, construction, and testing of welding helmets, goggles, and hand shields used to protect the welder's eyes and face from the intense light and heat generated during welding. The standard includes requirements for visual quality, radiation protection, and resistance to heat and impact. Testing includes measuring the level of visible light transmission, eye protection factor and the penetration of radiant energy.
EN 175:2010 is a European standard that specifies the requirements and test methods for personal eye protection for use with welding and related processes. The standard includes requirements for impact resistance, penetration resistance, and protection against radiant energy. Test results for EN 175:2010 include measurements of the eye protection's impact resistance, penetration resistance and protection against radiant energy. Additionally, it includes requirements for the labeling, marking, and packaging of the eye protection, as well as information on the suitability of the eye protection against specific types of welding and cutting. This version of the standard supersedes EN 175:1997 and includes new test methods and updated performance requirements.
