Standards and labels
EN 352-1:2020 is a European standard for noise attenuation of hearing protectors. It sets out the performance requirements and test methods for earplugs and earmuffs. The standard specifies the maximum noise reduction that a product must achieve in order to be compliant. Test results will show the noise reduction in decibels (dB) achieved by a product.
EN 352-6:2002 is a European standard that establishes safety requirements and test methods for ear-muffs used in industrial and other workplaces. It defines the requirements for the performance of ear-muffs, such as the level of noise reduction provided, the fit, durability and stability of the ear-muffs, and the labeling of the ear-muffs. Test results should show that the ear-muffs meet the requirements of the standard and provide the appropriate level of noise reduction. The test results will indicate the level of noise reduction provided by the ear-muffs in decibel.
EN 352-3:2020 is a European standard that sets safety requirements for earplugs worn in industrial and similar environments. It covers the performance requirements for noise reduction, usability and durability. Test results for earplugs should show the level of noise reduction achieved (expressed in decibels) and how well the earplugs stay in place during use.
EN 352-4:2001/A1:2005 is a European standard that sets safety requirements for earmuffs worn in industrial and similar environments. It covers the performance requirements for noise reduction, usability and durability. The amendment A1:2005 adds a new test method for the measurement of the sound attenuation of earmuffs and an additional test method for the measurement of the sound attenuation of earmuffs and earplugs. Test results for earmuffs should show the level of noise reduction achieved (expressed in decibels) and how well the earmuffs stay in place during use.
CE Marking is a label that shows a product meets certain safety and environmental standards set by the European Union. To get the CE Marking, a company must test and certify their product meets these standards. CE Marking is required for many products sold in the EU, including electronics, machinery, toys and medical devices. It helps ensure that products are safe for consumers and the environment, and allows for easy trade within the EU.
